With my newfound love of photography, I just want to go out and explore the world and take lots & lots of photos. I recently bought some walking books but these were for the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. But these are at least a hour and half drive away.
I had a rare day off during the week, it was my son's sports day in the morning, the weather was glorious and I didn't want to stay in and do boring housework, but where could I go? My time was limited as I had to be back for the school run.
THE LOCAL PARK!
Witton Country Park is literary on my doorstep, well a 10 minute drive away but close enough. There is plenty to do in the park and lots of different walks to do as you can see on the below map.
I parked at the Pleasington side of the park (there is a charge at the main entrance car park) and decided to do a circular route that I have done before so knew it wouldn't take any longer than a hour, a hour and half max.
I headed towards the cafe, through Big Cover Wood upto Under Billinge Lane to go back down into Crow Wood and back to the car park.
The views when walking through the Higher Gardens Plantation are amazing and on a clear day you can see Darwen Tower , a walk for another day......
Keep it up like the pics I didn't know places like that are so easy to get to x
